Interview with Leslie Greif, the producer of "Hatfields and McCoys"

Leslie Greif is one of the most famous writer/director/producers, and has worked on motion pictures and television projects in virtually every genre in the last 25 years.

In the world of television, Greif established himself quickly when he co-created and executive produced the CBS runaway hit television series "Walker, Texas Ranger," starring Chuck Norris. The show ran for 204 episodes and is still seen around the world.

 

Leslie Greif also produced and directed feature documentaries on two of America's most notable motion picture stars of the 21st century: "Steve McQueen: The Essence Of Cool" and the highly acclaimed "Brando," starring Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Martin Scorsese, Sean Penn and Robert Duvall. It opened both the Cannes and Tribeca Film Festivals in 2008, and earned Greif an Emmy nomination for his work.

 

 

Greif has gone on to create and produce numerous TV movies, series, miniseries and specials for major networks. He has also produced and directed a number of feature film projects, including the comedy "Funny Money," starring Chevy Chase, Penelope Ann Miller and Armand Assante.

 

He directed the critically acclaimed film "Keys to Tulsa," an offbeat noir mystery with an illustrious cast that included Eric Stoltz, James Spader, Cameron Diaz, James Coburn and Mary Tyler Moore. Greif also produced New Line Pictures' cop drama "Heaven's Prisoners," starring Alec Baldwin and Teri Hatcher, as well as the Rodney Dangerfield farce "Meet Wally Sparks," which also starred Burt Reynolds.

 

In HISTORY's "Chasing Mummies," Greif appears in front of the camera for the first time.
